Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo! We provide numerous opportunities to volunteer throughout the year, including those listed below. For more information, email info@kalamazooarts.org.

Requirements for Volunteers

  • Should be at least 18 years old
  • Report to the Operations Manager if there are any questions and concerns before volunteering
  • Attend training session before event
  • Present a friendly and personable manner
  • Be dependable and punctual (this also includes communicating at least 2 hours before the event if there is a conflict or cancelation)
  • Be comfortable handling cash, checks, and credit card transactions (when necessary)
  • Must adhere to any COVID policies set forth by the Arts Council

Art on the Mall

We are looking for volunteers for Art on the Mall on June 2 & 3, 2023. Volunteers can help with event set-up, clean-up, traffic monitoring, assisting artists, and more. Year after year, returning volunteers say that this is one of their favorite events of the summer! Several different time slots are available each day. Art Hop

The Art Hop Volunteer will perform a variety of tasks during Art Hop nights on the first Friday of each month. The following volunteer tasks may be subject to change depending on the need of each month. This includes, but not limited to the following: greeting guests, assisting in artwork sales, assisting with questions from artists and the public (these questions may also include the App which can be download by phone), assisting with set-up and takedown, and other tasks as assigned by the Programs Director. This position helps to extend the resources in the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo to better assist and direct the needs of our patrons.

Duties Include:

  • Greeting guests 
  • Assisting in artwork sales at the Westin Gallery (Arts Council)
  • Working knowledge of the Art Hop App, with the ability to assist others in its use.
  • Keeping count of visitors in various locations
  • Passing out provided pamphlets on memberships and other resources
  • Assisting in dropping off  and picking up provided signage at the beginning of the event (please be advised, that this does require PHYSICAL LABOR)

 

Concerts in the Park Volunteers

Concerts in the Park is a Sunday Concert Series presented by the ACGK in Bronson Park. Volunteers are asked to help load supplies, tents, and tables at the Arts Council for transport to Bronson Park. During the event, volunteers assist with providing information and clarification to patrons, including passing out brochures and answering basic questions about the event.

Duties Include: 

  • Greeting guests (both when outdoors and indoors at assigned locations)
  • Working knowledge of the Concert Series and ability to answer questions about Summertime Live and its partners
  • Keeping count of visitors in Bronson Park or at the Rain Site
  • Passing out provided pamphlets on memberships and other resources
  • Assisting in packing, and setting up equipment (tables, tents, chairs, etc.) at the beginning of the event and breaking down equipment at end of the event (please be advised, that this does require PHYSICAL LABOR)
