Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo! We provide numerous opportunities to volunteer throughout the year, including those listed below. For more information, email info@kalamazooarts.org or scroll to the link below to sign up now!

Requirements for Volunteers

  • Should be at least 18 years old
  • Report to the Operations Manager if there are any questions and concerns before volunteering
  • Present a friendly and welcoming manner
  • Be dependable and punctual, including communicating at least 2 hours before the event if you have an emergency come up
  • Be comfortable handling cash, checks, and credit card transactions if applicable
  • Must adhere to any policies, COVID or otherwise set forth by the Arts Council

Art on the Mall

We are looking for volunteers for Art on the Mall on June 7-8, 2024. Volunteers are vital in helping with event set-up, clean-up, traffic monitoring, and assisting artists. Year after year, returning volunteers say that this is one of their favorite events of the summer! Several different time slots are available each day. The 2024 opportunities are available for sign-ups now at the link at the bottom of the page!

Art Hop

Art Hop volunteers are needed, before, during, and after Art Hop nights on March 1, May 3, July 12, September 6, November 1, and December 6 in 2024. Each Art Hop has different needs but some examples of common tasks are hosting in a gallery/venue; assisting in artwork sales; answering questions from artists and the public including helping with the online brochure navigation; assisting with set-up and takedown; and delivering/collecting Art Hop signs. This position helps to extend the resources in the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo to better assist and direct the needs of our patrons.

Duties Include:

  • Hosting in galleries/venues
  • Assisting in artwork sales at the Westin Gallery (Arts Council)
  • Working knowledge of the Art Hop brochure website and assisting others in its use
  • Keeping count of attendance in various locations
  • Delivering and picking up provided signage at the beginning of the event

Concerts in the Park Volunteers

Concerts in the Park is a Sunday Concert Series presented by the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo in Bronson Park. Volunteers are asked to help set up supplies, tents, and tables at Bronson Park. During the event, volunteers assist with providing information and clarification to patrons, including passing out brochures and answering basic questions about the event.

Duties Include: 

  • Greeting guests
  • Working knowledge of the Concert Series and ability to answer questions about Summertime Live and its partners
  • Keeping count of concert attendance in Bronson Park
  • Passing out provided Summertime Live and Arts Council brochures
  • Assisting in packing, and setting up signs at the beginning of the event and breaking down equipment at the end of the event
