March’s Artist Happy Hour topic is Funding Your Passion. Kristen will share grant opportunities for artists and art organizations.
Artist Happy Hour is Wednesday, March 24 from 6-7:30 pm! We will be joined by panelists and 2020 grant recipients Kellen Deau, Jay Young, and Lonna Hardin for a discussion on ACGK grants. You will get to hear first-hand about the incredible and inspiring projects and professional development opportunities that these Kalamazoo women have pursued with the support of our grant programs. Kellen Deau is in her 11th year of teaching K-12 Visual Arts Education. For five years, Kellen has been the instructor of the countywide Kalamazoo RESA’s CTE Art & Design Career Skills program. Kellen is also an adjunct instructor KVCC’s for New Media.
In addition to teaching, Kellen’s artistic concentrations include fiber art and batik using wax and dye on fabric as well as encaustic painting and printmaking.
This year, Kellen has received $14,375 in grant funds from multiple organizations. Over the course of her career, Kellen has received over $25,000 in grant funding for her artistic development as well as for artistic equipment and projects within her classroom.
