Oberlin and Marshall will perform tunes from the Classical, Swing, Bluegrass and American Folk traditions, as well as their own original compositions.
Brian Oberlin is an internationally acclaimed mandolin player and educator. Along with the myriad of award-winning bands and ensembles he has collaborated with throughout the United States and Europe, Oberlin is also the founder and director of the River of the West Mandolin Camp and the Oregon Mandolin Orchestra. Evan J. Marshall is an internationally renowned mandolin virtuoso and is widely regarded as the world’s premier solo performer on mandolin in Duo-Style. By himself, he sounds like several of the world’s fi nest mandolinists performing together. Country guitar

The Kalamazoo Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra is a plucked string ensemble consisting of mandolins, mandolas, mandocellos, guitars, and bass. The KMGO was founded in 2003 to revive the mandolin orchestra tradition in Kalamazoo. Under the direction of conductor Philip Rugel, the orchestra enjoys performing a wide variety of music including classical, ethnic, and “golden era” mandolin orchestra music. The orchestra has premiered original music composed for the orchestra and have sponsored workshops with international mandolin virtuosi. The KMGO is sponsored by Crescendo Academy of Music.
