Barnum’s posthumous $1 million donation to KCC in 2021 is one of the largest individual donations ever to the KCC Foundation, establishing two scholarship funds at the College: the Dean O. Barnum Gold Key Scholarship and the Dean O. Barnum Scholarship for Student Athletes.

“FACETS” is an abstract/representational 8-foot-tall stainless steel stabile inspired by the legacy of Barnum, who passed away at the age of 87 in August 2020. The sculpture, fabricated by Battle Creek’s CSE Morse, will be installed in the small island in front of the entry steps on the Circle Drive.

Funding for the sculpture came primarily from the Barnum estate. Improvements to the installation island including new pavers, lights and an ADA-accessible sidewalk are coming from the Santo and Maria Zanetti Capital Improvement/Maintenance Fund at the KCC Foundation.

“FACETS” will be added to the College’s permanent art collection as part of the KCC Foundation’s Art on Campus Initiative.
