Kalamazoo Craft Beverage Week & Art Hop at the Kalamazoo State Theatre

Presented by Kalamazoo State Theatre at Kalamazoo State Theatre

Kalamazoo State Theatre
Event: 5:00PM

It’s all about celebrating art!  The art of brewing, the art of glass making, the art of pottery and the art of our historic theatre.

Join us at the Kalamazoo State Theatre for a special celebration of Kalamazoo Craft Beverage Week and Art Hop Friday, February 4, 2022!

Celebrate Kalamazoo Craft and Beverage Week with a selection of featured craft beers from Tapistry Brewing as well as some select craft cocktails in our lobby, sign up to take our Historic Backstage and Beyond Tour and admire some amazing artists all in the warmth of our lobby.

Take a walk through our Vaudeville Theatre’s history in our extended tour and go backstage in your home with the stars. You will learn about our atmospheric sky, architecture, organ and pipes, lightboard, marquee, renovation history, and more. You will see the dressing rooms, the green room, statues, staircases, the fountain, and the theatre house from different viewpoints. You will go on stage and view the theatre as a performing artist would, you will see the marquee room and learn how those State on the Street artists got up there to perform!

We are proud to feature local artist Eric Strader of Eric Strader Pottery, and artists Michael Fortin & Judith Konesni of Avolio GlassWerks at this special Art Hop event.

Eric’s work includes functional as well as one-of-a-kind pieces that have been featured in many invitational and juried exhibitions as well as art fairs throughout the Midwest. Much of his work is drinkware and he makes mugs for many breweries including Bell’s Brewery and mug club mugs for Paw Paw Brewing Company. He also makes coffee mugs, whiskey cups, beer mugs, tankards, wine cups, tumblers and more.

Avolio GlassWerks is the combined glass blowing effort of Judith Konesni and Michael Fortin.  With more than 50 years of combined glass working expertise, Michael and Judith specialize in traditional hand blown glass and have also created impressive cast forms, dramatic fused and kiln formed works, and detailed lampworked creations. Individually Judith and Michael are able to invent colorful, unique items that are perfect for home and office; as gifts for friends, family or clients; corporate awards large and small. As a team their experience places them at the highest level; able to meet a client’s needs for lighting, commercial and private installations, public art (indoors and out), and architectural installations of all kinds.
