Rootead Youth Drum Ensemble

Presented by Rootead at Rootead Enrichment Center

Rootead Enrichment Center is thrilled to be offering numerous opportunities for youth of all ages to learn and perform African movement, rhythms, history, songs, stories, and dance this fall and throughout the year.

Save the date of October 1 for auditions for both the Rootead Youth Dance Company (RYDC) and Rootead Youth Drum Ensemble (RYDE), professional drum and dance company opportunities for youth ages 8 -18. Dancers will focus on Black Diaspora Dance including West African, Modern, Hip-Hop, and Afro-Fusion, and drummers will focus on Black Diaspora Music and African Percussion. Auditions will be held at the Rootead Enrichment Center from 4:30 - 6:30 pm on Oct. 1 (RYDC auditions will be from 4:30 - 5:30 pm and RYDE auditions will be from 5:30 - 6:30 pm).

These incredible free training and performance opportunities also include professional development through Social, Emotional Learning (SEL) workshops and training and mentorship from some of the region’s most talented and inspiring instructors.

These performing ensembles are highly sought after by local schools, businesses, and organizations, and both the participating youth and their families should be aware that this free program does come with performance commitments that should be taken into consideration.
