Art and Innovation Center Statement

Kalamazoo’s newest intentional studio space for women (she’s they’s and gays) is now accepting applications for the fall.  Stop on by for more information. Opens this September.

Amelia Volwiler-Stanley is a print & installation artist focused on animal mythology, trauma healing in the body, and biology. AVS primarily creates cyanotypes on fabric and salvaged textiles, both on a large scale and a wearable scale. Her imagery is pulled from anatomical illustrations, pressed flowers/foliage and other natural found objects, and photographs she has taken in the wilds of Michigan (including spider webs!).

AVS lives and works in both Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo, Michigan. She received her BFA from Hope College and her MFA from Indiana University Bloomington.
