Join us online for our virtual event celebrating Dia de los Muertos, the Mexican holiday to honor our loved ones who have passed on.
The Hispanic American Council would like to invite you to our 7th Annual Día de Los Muertos Celebration, which will take place as a virtual event on November 2nd, 2020. El Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a celebration filled with music, folkloric dances, traditional art, delicious food, and fun activities for families. This celebration originates from México and is a Native Aztec ceremony used to remember, honor, and support the spiritual journey of our ancestors, for their deaths were not the end but only the beginning of their journey to the spirit realm.
Since this year’s event will be virtual, we will invite individuals and businesses to come to El Concilio to build their own altar. The main part of the event will be a virtual tour of all the beautiful altars from the community. We will also auction off some lovely hand-made piñatas and have gift bags for children to pick up from our office ahead of time. We are looking forward to appearances from a folkloric dance group as well as a presentation live from Mexico. If you have any questions about the event or are interested in building an altar, please contact Emma Robbins at robbins@elconciliokzoo.org or send us a message through our Facebook page, El Concilio Kzoo.
