Kalamazoo Institute of Arts
Introduction to Photographic Lighting
Wednesdays, July 8 - 29, 6 - 8 pm / 4 weeks
Amelia Falk Wagner, Online with Zoom Pro
$85/Members: $65
Prerequisite: A camera capable of manual exposure and familiarity with the camera controls.
The basics of studio lighting will be covered without a lot of technical jargon that's hard to understand. You'll learn how direction and quality of light can hide flaws, emphasize details, how controlling the lighting can lead the viewer through your images. You will be taught how to work with a radio slave system and discuss the ins and outs of different types of lighting equipment. Each week, students will be able to watch a demonstration video, be given assignment sheets and share the work with the instructor for critique sessions.
