ONEplace@kpl Webinar Series: The Nuts & Bolts of Storytelling During Crisis

Tuesday, May 5, 10:00 am–11:00 am

Trying times are upon us and the nonprofit sector has never felt so challenged or strained. Reduced staff, new home-based routines, strapped budgets, and overwhelming demand make finding good amid the bad feel so distant right now.

Still, harvesting and sharing positive stories of your work, impact, and clients during bleak and uncertain times can be an incredibly powerful way to remain engaged with a public that, despite the stress and unknown, still needs (and wants!) to hear from you. Telling such stories can have a positive, if not profound, impact on raising your organization’s awareness, engaging others in your work (now and longer term), and even, despite tough financial times, drawing in donors and other funders.

In this session, you’ll learn from veteran nonprofit storyteller Laura Huth-Rhoades how to find engaging stories in bleak times, how to appropriately strike a balance between messages of hope and reality, various methods to tell stories effectively, and the best ways to share stories for maximum engagement and impact. Laura will share real examples for you to learn from and provide you with a practical roadmap to weave words (and images) that really matter—now more than ever.
