Rootead Youth Dance Company is having auditions January 10th at 3:30pm at Kalamazoo Barre Studio to add youth dancers for this upcoming semester.
Rootead Youth Dance Company focuses on African/ Black Diaspora dances such as, Traditional West African, Hip Hop, Modern/Contemporary. Members meet 3 times a week to rehearse and attend professional development workshops surrounding mental health, career building, and dance technique.
Members perform for community events such as the Holiday Parade, the Women's March, and YMCA's Community Dance Showcase. They also have concert performances such as Carnival of the Animals with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra and MLK Day at the Kalamazoo State Theater.
This is a good practice for youth to learn and expand their abilities through dance as a career. Members build relationships with other dancers and community members in performing arts.
Please bring a water bottle, dance clothes, $10 registration fee, and resume (optional), and a positive attitude!
There is a $10 registration fee that must be paid at the check in. We accept credit/debit cards, cash, and checks.
