MUSSORGSKY: Pictures at an Exhibition

MUSSORGSKY: Pictures at an Exhibition

Presented by Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra at Western Michigan University - Miller Auditorium

Discovering strokes of genius: music inspired by drawings, paintings, and sculpture.

Schuller's score evokes the art of Paul Klee in vivid clarity, while Ravel's orchestration of Mussorgsky's famous "Pictures at an Exhibition" finishes the program. Prokofiev's Second Violin Concerto allows orchestra and soloist to shine in this brilliant season opener. Conducted by KSO Music Director Julian Kuerti and featuring guest soloist Leticia Moreno, violin.

We recommend attending our Wiser Financial Prelude, from 7-7:30 p.m., prior to each Symphonic Series concert. These popular talks help guide you through interesting details of the program and might even introduce the soloist.

Immediately after each Symphonic Series concert, stick around for "AfterWORDS," an interactive discussion between the conductor, soloist, and audience.
