Breaking barriers and facilitating discourse regarding the definition of “classical” or “art” music and the role of formerly enslaved peoples, particularly the ancestors of modern African-Americans “in current art culture”. Heartside Harmony will present relatively unknown works by excellent artists of the past and present, engage a diverse cast of performers and incorporate challenging and engaging rhetoric throughout the performance. This will provide a multi-discipline, deeply affecting evening of the arts that will speak directly to all people regardless of education, cultural background or ethnic history.
