Enjoy a talk with Kimberly Dobos, Curator/Archivist from the landmark Detroit ceramic studio, founded in 1903 and known for handcrafted architectural tile and ceramics. The studio's work graces notable buildings like Chicago's Shedd Aquarium and will also be part of our exhibition The Way Forward: New Acquisitions at the KIA. Ms. Dobos will detail Pewabic's 115-year history in the city of Detroit, and show rarely-seen photographs and artifacts from Pewabic's past and present, along with a virtual guided tour of the pottery.
Kimberly has served as Pewabic's Archivist since 2013. During her time at the pottery, she has led a complete re-organization of the archives storage management system, created a records digitization project, designed visitor-centered tours and interactive gallery materials, and implemented a rotating historic exhibit schedule. She received a BA in Art History from Kent State University, and a MS in Historic Preservation from Eastern Michigan University.
