Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Montero will be performing a program of Mozart, Beethoven, and improvisations on themes from the audience for The Gilmore Piano Masters Series.
Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Montero’s visionary interpretations and unique improvisational gifts have won her a devoted following around the world. Anthony Tommasini remarked in The New York Times, "Montero's playing has everything: crackling rhythmic brio, subtle shadings, steely power in climactic moments, soulful lyricism in the ruminative passages and, best of all, unsentimental expressivity."
Montero is known for her improvisational skills and will often invite the audience to provide melodic ideas for her improvisations. In an age where improvisation among classical pianists is a dying art form, this is certainly an experience not to miss.
