Lenten Organ Recital: Sipkje Pesnichak

First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo on Bronson Park in downtown Kalamazoo (212 S. Park Street) is offering five Lenten Organ Recitals on Thursdays during Lent. The 50-minute concerts begin at noon and are open to the public. The concerts will feature some of the greatest sacred and secular works for pipe organ played by professional organists from Southwest Michigan. Refreshments will be available after the recitals. Free will offering. Questions: 269.381.6340. The third recital on March 8th will feature Sipkje Pesnichak, Director of Music at the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Michigan. Sipkje will perform a recital of solo organ works which will take the listener on a journey through the Lenten season.

As Director of Music for Jackson's First Presbyterian Church, Sipkje directs the Chancel and Shout! choirs, Presby and Presby Jr. Ringers, oversees the Orff program and plays organ and piano for all Sunday services, funerals and weddings. Sipkje currently serves as Sub-Dean for the Ann Arbor Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and is a Member-At-Large on the Executive Committee for the Hymn Society in the United States and Canada.
