Celebrate a summer of indigenous art with the opening of the photography exhibition, Our People, Our Land, Our Images, which features work by photographers from Peru, Iraq, New Zealand, and North America. David W. Penney, co-curator of Kay WalkingStick: An American Artist, will talk about the evolving place and respect for indigenous art in museums today. He is associate director of museum scholarship at the National Museum of the American Indian. An internationally recognized scholar, curator, and museum administrator, Penney joined the museum in April 2011 after a 31-year career at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
