ARTbreak: 1,000 Years of Karakami Art

Presented by Kalamazoo Institute of Arts at Kalamazoo Institute of Arts

Karakami is a decorative Japanese paper. Its woodblock-printed motifs, such as cherry blossoms and dragons, inspired prominent European artists in the 19th century. This documentary explores Karakami and the work of a family in Kyoto that has preserved this traditional art form for nearly 400 years.
