Calmus: “All the World’s a Stage”  Shakespeare a capella

Fri, May 5, 2017 at 8:00 pm
Holy Family Chapel, Nazareth Center

Calmus has forged a refined sound which few groups achieve. The wide range of sound colors, the joy in performing that musicians convey on the concert platform, and their varied and imaginative programs are praised by the press time and time again.

This renowned a cappella quintet presents “All the World’s a Stage”, a program of music inspired by the plays and poetry of the immortal bard, William Shakespeare. You will hear songs — all in English — by composers from all over the world ranging across five centuries.

“Chamber Music America does this annual conference every January, and I was asked to be one of three adjudicators [for it],” explains David Baldwin, Fontana Executive and Artistic Director. “Right from the very beginning, [Calmus] was the recording that I heard that stood out for me. Head and shoulders above everything else that I listened to.”
