Danish String Quartet

Presented by Fontana at Western Michigan University - Dalton Center Recital Hall

One of the hottest chamber acts currently touring, the Danish String Quartet is making just a handful of North American appearances – and Kalamazoo is one of them!

“We’re very excited to have [the Danish String Quartet],” says David Baldwin, Fontana Executive and Artistic Director. “This is one of the young hot quartets in the US and Europe right now. I’m really pleased we were able to get them for their Kalamazoo debut.”

Listen & Learn: Hear about the unique and varied program of the Danish String Quartet (3:37). (David Baldwin, Fontana Executive and Artistic Director, with Betsy Wong, Fontana Artistic Administrator)

DISTINGUISHED ACCOMPLISHMENTS

The quartet has reached incredible heights in the course of its thirteen-year existence. In January 2012 the quartet was appointed to the prestigious Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Two Program that began in the 2013-2014 season. This achievement comes as the last in a row of distinguished accomplishments.

The high technical and musical quality, the joy of playing, the powerful impact the quartet makes on stage and the fresh approach to familiar repertoire has become a trademark for the Danish String Quartet.
