Cameron Carpenter

Presented by Fontana at Unknown

In collaboration with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra

Cameron Carpenter is having a ball smashing the stereotypes of organists and organ music, and all the while generating international acclaim and controversy unprecedented in his field.

Cameron’s repertoire – from the complete works of J. S. Bach to film scores, his original compositions, and hundreds of transcriptions and arrangements – is probably the largest and most diverse of any organist. He is the first “concert organist” in history to prefer the digital organ to the pipe organ, and to champion it as the future of the instrument.

Listen & Learn: Hear more about Carpenter’s background and amazing custom-made organ (6:15). (David Baldwin, Fontana Executive and Artistic Director, with Betsy Wong, Fontana Artistic Administrator)

THE PERFECT VENUE

“I think the [State Theatre] is a perfect venue for this concert,” says David Baldwin, Fontana Executive and Artistic Director. “Having one of the world’s most foremost organists – and perhaps the most progressive organists I think we’ve ever seen – in that space is really going to be awesome.”
