Equally at home at the keyboard or on the podium, Jeffrey Kahane has an international reputation as a truly versatile artist. Returning to the Festival, Kahane will serve as conductor and soloist on the piano and the fortepiano in this concert comprising members of the Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestras. They will perform one of Mozart’s greatest concertos as well as works by Ravel and Haydn, the latter conducted and performed from the fortepiano – as it would have been in Haydn’s time.
A pre-concert talk by Zaide Pixley, Dean of the First Year and Adjunct Associate Professor of Music at Kalamazoo College, will be held from 7 to 7:45 PM in the Chenery Auditorium Reception Room preceding the concert. Free to ticket holders.
