2016 Gilmore Festival: Micah McLaurin

at Kalamazoo College - Stetson Chapel

We’re pleased to present the Kalamazoo debut of our 2016 Gilmore Young Artist Micah McLaurin, a 21-year-old native of Charleston, South Carolina. McLaurin studies with Robert McDonald at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and already holds titles from several international competitions.

McLaurin was the youngest of eight pianists chosen worldwide to participate in the Verbier Festival Academy in Switzerland and was also one of eight pianists selected to participate in the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, where he won the concerto competition and performed with the Academy Festival Orchestra.

McLaurin also performs in solo recitals on Sunday, May 1 at Kretschmer Recital Hall in Grand Rapids and on Friday, May 13 at First United Methodist Church in South Haven; tickets are available at the door at both locations.
