I recently relocated to Kalamazoo from Wisconsin.  I spent the last 3 years completing my MFA in Painting and Drawing from University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and before that spent 20 years working as a theatre designer throughout Chicago and Wisconsin.  I also have 14 years of experience teaching theatre design at the university level.  For many years I was focused solely on my career as a theatre designer but came to a point in life where my desire to focus on studio art was greater than continuing building my career in theatre.

Currently my practice is centered around the exploration of what painting or drawing can become rather than a fixed definition of what they should be. My work over the last two years has gravitated towards minimalism with a touch of Dada sensibilities and strategies thrown in to spice things up. I enjoy listening to music, reading philosophy (not necessarily understanding it), and pushing my perceptions of what I think I know in new directions.

I'm looking forward to becoming part of the art community here in kalamazoo and would welcome any chances to meet and get to know other artists.
