Who We Are

It is essential that RAWK represent all of Kalamazoo. We cannot truly serve all of Kalamazoo if RAWK does not reflect all of Kalamazoo. From our board of directors, our staff, RAWK volunteers, and to the youth we serve, we strive to be an organization that values diversity and inclusion at every level.

Founders

Anne Hensley and Emily Kastner founded RAWK in 2012 to provide creative space for youth to write and share their stories. What started as an idea to provide creative writing opportunities for youth grew into what RAWK is today due to Emily and Anne’s hard work in rallying the community around amplifying youth voice. They will forever RAWK!

What We Do https://www.readandwritekzoo.org/what-we-do/

Volunteers are the core, the muscle of RAWK’s mission.
We believe the success of every youth relies on an invested community of supportive volunteers. We couldn’t do what we do without the support from a team of volunteers who work directly with RAWK youth or behind the scenes. Check out our volunteer needs by clicking here and consider volunteering to help RAWK amplify youth voices.
