Mary Reed is a Juried Folk Artisan. Her hair braiding and wheat weaving talents were first recognized by the MN State Arts Board.  Her audiences represent all ages and communities.

She enjoys creating pieces for exhibitions, presenting historical information, teaching wheat weaving techniques, and occasionally assembling small teams to braid at events.  She was a featured artist for fairs, festivals, museums, and a variety of venues in Minnesota and now hopes to revive and expand her artistic visions in Michigan.

In 2015 she established Hair, Head + Heart (3H) as a for-profit entity. It embodies all things related to the 3H’s as observed and explored by Mary. She creates safe zones and utilizes various layers of her art forms to share transference of culture, timelessness and properties that should unite us.

She hopes to open a museum within the next couple of years. Until then, she will plan 3H arts-related pop-ups. There, she will incorporate science, chemical laws, methodologies, physical dynamics, tessellations, and possibilities into fusions of awareness and self-acceptance that reach far beyond trends and basics of natural or nurtured phenomenon.
