The Washington Avenue Arts+Culture Crawl” (WAACC), a new quarterly arts event located in the Edison Neighborhood. This event will provide a free public platform to showcase artists, musicians and creatives with the goal of engaging both Edison residents and the greater Kalamazoo community. Centered along the length of Washington Ave, WAACC plays host to a mile long, walkable, bikeable, pedestrian friendly pathway through the neighborhood designed to connect venues in Washington Square along Portage St. and those located at the Jerico Studios on Fulford St. We are partnering with local bike safety groups Modeshift and Open Roads to provide traffic calming efforts, as well as to provide free bikes for our audience to use during the event.
These venues include The Dormouse Theatre, Move With Joy Dance School, The Sugar Bowl, Twine Urban Winery, Fire Historical and Cultural Arts Collaborative, the ENA Community Room, Jerico Studios, the Clover Room, and the Wax Factory. Each of these locations will host a relevant artist, performer, or participatory art-making project or group activity such as dance or open mic. Be sure to check out the Washington and Cameron Junction for live painting and a basketball tournament!
