Kalamazoo’s thriving local brewing trade is rooted in traditions that date back to the earliest decades of the 19th century. From “Old Joe” and Dorothy Burchnall to George Judge’s Kalamazoo Malt House and George Neumaier’s Cold Stream Brewery, we will explore the history of local brewing from
its humble beginnings in the 1830’s until Kalamazoo “went dry” in 1915.
