Public Media Network's Neighborhood Voices Network Meeting

Neighborhood Journalists will be given the training, platform, and tools to start reporting on news in their community.  The Neighborhood Journalist Network will showcase media coverage from a wide array of voices. More people, and more perspectives, means that news coverage will be more well-rounded and lift up more voices in the community.

Anyone interested in telling a story, and is ages 14+, is invited to become a Neighborhood Journalist for Public Media Network. Neighborhood Journalists will be trained with all the tools needed to be successful, including instructions in topics like: what makes a story newsworthy, interviewing strategies, writing basics, AP Style, event coverage, journalism ethics, video storytelling, cultural competency, and equipment basics.

Neighborhood Journalists will go through a five-session virtual training period that is taking place once a week. Following this, Neighborhood Journalists are invited to a bi-weekly meeting led by PMN Journalist, Raine Kuch, and other PMN staff members. These meetings will give journalists the opportunity to collaborate with each other, get feedback on story ideas, and learn more about what is happening in the community.
