New Year’s Fest is an all ages showcase of performing arts that takes place on New Year’s Eve in downtown Kalamazoo. There are a variety of activities that take place including music, magic, juggling, and street performers. Although there will not be fireworks or a ball drop at Midnight this year, there will be a “Goodbye 2020” video played on the North Kalamazoo Mall.
This year, our focus will be on utilizing the outdoor space in Downtown, as well as providing live-streamed entertainment for those staying in this New Year’s Eve. The idea of the outdoor performances is to support the social districts along the Kalamazoo Mall while following current guidelines. These districts and the outdoor performance stages will allow patrons dining in at local restaurants to come out and enjoy the entertainment. The hybrid event schedule features not only the in-person entertainers, but also live-streamed performances through the Public Media Network Engage Channel, the Public Media Network App (Roku, or Fire TV, Apple TV) and local churches YouTube channels.
