Kalamazoo Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra in Concert

Join the Kalamazoo Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra, sponsored by Crescendo Academy of Music, in Anna Whitten Hall at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum as they perform at the 2019 Kalamazoo Fretboard Festival! Included in our concert will be The Wynkoop Waltz by Jim Williams, which won the 2017-2018 Call for Scores contest.

The Kalamazoo Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra is a plucked string ensemble consisting of mandolins, mandolas, mandocellos, guitars, and bass. The KMGO was founded in 2003 to revive the mandolin orchestra tradition in Kalamazoo. The orchestra enjoys performing a wide variety of music including classical, ethnic, and “golden era” mandolin orchestra music. The orchestra has premiered original music composed for the orchestra and has sponsored workshops with international mandolin virtuosi.
