For the two decades prior to his death in 1969, Michael Waskowsky headed the Art Department at Kalamazoo College and frequently taught figure drawing KIA. As a painter, he explored many themes, but found continuing inspiration in the landscapes he encountered, ranging from the jungle-covered coast of New Guinea to the lakes and hills of Michigan’s Leelanau Peninsula.
