This documentary looks at the life and work of Jacob Lawrence, one of America s great painters, the first African American to be represented by a New York City gallery. Just a few years before his death in 2000, Jacob Lawrence allowed a film crew to record as he painted and discussed his life and art, including his abiding interest in creative narratives inspired by American history.
