ARTbreak: Field Guides: An Unfolding Path

As an artist, Jean Stevens has a special interest in the intersection of realism and abstraction in natural patterns. In her recent series entitled Field Guides, she explores the similarities and differences found in specific aspects of the natural world by assembling individual canvases of magnified details into a single large work. Join Jean as she discusses how a growing understanding of the natural world has helped to guide her creative process, as well as learn more about the environment in her own backyard.

The Field Guides exhibition will be on view at the Arts Council gallery March 3 – 29, and support for the project was provided by the Kalamazoo Artistic Development Initiative, a program of the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo.
