The KFS is looking forward to showing a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T to the late, great Aretha Franklin, when we screen the never-before-aired documentary AMAZING GRACE, beginning on Friday, May 10.
Over the course of two days in 1972, the young director Sydney Pollack filmed Aretha Franklin, backed by the Southern California Community Choir, in concert in the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in South Los Angeles. The live recording of that performance would go on to become the most popular gospel album of all time.
