Pianist Barbara Lieurance brings an entirely new kind of virtuosity to the concert hall. She has specialized in works for bowed piano, a new piano technique that was first developed by composer C. Curtis Smith. Her program includes Smith’s first work written for bowed piano, Rhapsodies, as well as pieces by other composers written with this technique.
