Engaging the next generation of creative entrepreneurs, Lansing Art Gallery’s Michigan College Art Exhibition will encourage artistic excellence, provide networking opportunities, and enhance professional capacity through a competitive exhibition to be held in March 2018.
Lansing Art Gallery will provide an exciting competitive opportunity for Michigan college students to apply and exhibit artwork in a professional gallery. The exhibition will provide recognition and cash awards to outstanding college students currently enrolled in an art or design-related course.
Michigan College Art Exhibition applicants will enter online digital submissions of original works of art. A panel of visual arts professionals will determine acceptance and awards based on the quality of
submissions, including: excellence in craftsmanship, quality in design, technical competence, individual creative style, consistency, and professional presentation. Students may enter up to three works of art, which will be individually adjudicated via digital platform through Lansing Art Gallery.
Lansing Art Gallery has developed the 2017 pilot exhibition branding and public relations; and will disseminate calls to artists; and oversee the jury selection, adjudication, and notification process. We will use this knowledge base to build our future Exhibitions. Additionally, gallery staff will handle artwork intake, installation, contracting, inventory, and removal/return of artwork. Works of art selected by the panel will be displayed at Lansing Art Gallery during the month of March 2018 and will be eligible for competitive awards.
Lansing Art Gallery will offer multiple opportunities for college and university involvement. Academic institutions may support program activities by sponsoring awards for emerging artists. Michigan College Art Exhibition sponsor benefits will include recognition, award naming, public presentation opportunities and more. In addition, Lansing Art Gallery seeks collaboration with colleges and universities to distribute application information, cultivate student interest, and encourage participation.
