A Juried Exhibition
The Armory – 215 N. Water St., Owosso, MI
September 7-28, 2018

About: The Armory has stood for more than a century as a symbol of military and community strength and pride. It is listed on the coveted National Register of Historic Places. Now The Armory has been transformed for the next chapter of its life through redevelopment into collaborative office and community space that will promote entrepreneurship and bring together organizations and small businesses.

The inaugural Armory Exhibition 2018 brings Art into the space and will be the jewel of the Annual Art Walk in thriving Downtown Owosso.  First place winner will have an exhibit in one of 3 galleries at the Shiawassee Art Center during Owosso Art Walk in September 2019.

Call for Artists parameters:

Michigan artists only
$25 non-refundable submission fee “ticket” for up to 2 submissions
2D and 3D, (no jewelry or video)
Send application and  jpg.  3 x 6”, 300dpi by email to owossoart@gmail.com

20-30 pieces will be chosen for the exhibition.

Two-dimensional works should not exceed 30 inches in width and 30 inches in height. 3D- must provide own pedestal if needed.  3D work not to exceed 3’ x 4’.

Awards: An on-site jury will select first, second, honorable mention.

·         First – $250 and a show at the beautiful Shiawassee Art Center during Downtown Owosso ArtWalk 2019

·         Second – $100

·         Honorable Mention $50

Application

The application is available on the Downtown Owosso Facebook page and The Armory  Facebook page or by request at owossoart@gmail.com. The artist’s signature on the entry form acknowledges understanding of, and agreement with the terms stated in this prospectus. A $25 non-refundable entry fee “ticket” entitles each artist to submit up to two [2] of their works for consideration. Delivered work must be identified on back with an attached tag: applicant’s name, phone number, email, medium, title, price.

Requirements

Work submitted must be original in design. Work derivative of other artists or work created in a workshop with the collaboration of an instructor is not acceptable.
Work must be gallery ready when submitted. Paintings and other wall works should be framed or finished. Please use gallery wire. No saw tooth hanging hardware is allowed and pieces will not be hung.
No work will be accepted after the dates and times for delivery listed on the prospectus.
The artist’s contact email provided on the application must remain active during the submissions and exhibition process. The artist is responsible for checking their email for acceptance and/or decline and other information regarding the exhibition.
There is no commission taken for artwork.  Interested buyers will be given Artists contact information. Artists are responsible for making payment/delivery arrangements with the interested party.
Sale price that is noted on the application is the FINAL price if the work is accepted into the exhibition. Exhibitors may not change sale price after the work is accepted for exhibition. If the work is NOT for sale, please indicate that information by writing “NFS” in the appropriate space provided on the on-line application.
Entry Fee: The non-refundable entry fee “ticket” is $25 for up to two [2] entries.

Shipping

If your work is selected, and requires return shipping at the end of the exhibition, you are financially responsible for shipping and insuring your work. Exhibitors must provide a pre-paid UPS or FEDEX return shipping label. The exhibition volunteers will not return shipped work that is not prepared in this manner for return. Work that is not retrieved 30 days after the exhibition becomes the property of the Armory.

Insurance

The Armory does not provide insurance during exhibitions. Artists are responsible to insure their work. Reasonable care will be taken in the handling and display of art work. The Armory, staff and volunteers are not responsible for damage or loss.

July 25, 2018 — Deadline for entry
July 28,29, 2018 — Entries are juried.
August 1, 2018 – Jury results will be emailed to applicants.
August 30, 31, 2018 – Artwork delivered to The Armory
Friday, September 7, 2018 — Artists opening reception & awards, 6:00 – 8:00 pm
September 28, 2018 — Exhibition ends. Artists retrieve work. 2:00 – 4:00 pm
October 1, 2018 – Artists retrieve work. 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.
