The Kalamazoo Film Society Grant

Dear Fellow SW Michigan Arts and Culture Supporter,

Last year, after more than 30-plus years helping to bring multi-genre films to our community and providing support to local filmmakers on an ad hoc basis, we decided to provide financial support via a more formal (and regular!) basis.

In 2021 we proudly awarded the first $1,000 KFS grant to Tirrea Billings for her short documentary film, “Seeing Through the Bars”. Her film documented how the Covid-19 epidemic affected prisoners and their families, and is currently in post-production.

We are pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for this year’s grant through May 1. We will announce the winner on June 1, 2022. Details on the grant process can be found on our website.

Now comes your part…we would like you to help us get the word out. The more people who know about the grant, the more who can apply. Please share this information and/or publish it on your social media. We look forward to seeing what the filmmakers create, and supporting and promoting their efforts.

Thanks for what you do to enrich arts and culture in SW Michigan; we are proud to partner with you. If you have questions about the 2022 grant process, please contact us.
