Create your artist’s profile first at callforentry.org. If you are already active, click to be taken directly to the exhibition page. Entry deadline is Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 11:59 pm.
Entering the area show is done via the online service at artist.callforentry.org. The first step is to create your artist account on the website at no charge. Once you have an account, you will have access to apply to juried exhibitions nationwide. The second step is to apply specifically to the West Michigan Area Show on the CaFE website.

Artists 18 years or older residing in Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Eaton, Ionia, Kalamazoo, Kent, Muskegon, Ottawa, St. Joseph, and Van Buren counties.
Recognizing that many artists have experienced hardship due to the ongoing pandemic, this year the KIA is reducing submission fees for the West Michigan Area Show from $20 to $14 for the first entry, and from $15 to $8 for each additional (up to 3 total entries total).
Waivers are available for artists requiring total support before March 15.
Awards are selected by the juror after work is accepted and delivered to the KIA.
Art Quilts: Art quilts must be free-hanging (unframed), fabric-based, original compositions formed by stitched layers. Dimensions may be up to 90″h x 72″w.
Mixed Media/Intermedia: Combining traditional and/or non-traditional media, eligible works stretch conventions of art and composition.
Printmaking: The awarded print is required to illustrate a hand-worked element as part of the process in its making (no exclusively digital prints are eligible).
Book Art Award: This can include hand-made books, hand-made paper, and work involving letterpress.
Calligraphy: Work must include calligraphy or hand-lettering, any medium. Typeset, digitally generated, or photographed lettering are not eligible
Glass: Over 50% of the work must be comprised of glass, but work may include some sculptural components in metal or other media.
Portage Community: Eligible work must respond to the theme “A Natural Place to Move” and be available to hang in City Hall lobby following the close of the WMAS. Artist must be a Portage resident able to install 8-10 additional works (subject/theme may vary) in Portage City Hall, dates to be announced.
Specifications: Only original work of the artist’s own design completed in the last two years should be entered. Digital media, 2-D, and 3-D works in any medium will be accepted. Work may not exceed six feet (72″) in any dimension.
Delivery or Shipping of Accepted Entries: Works accepted into the WMAS must be received during the delivery window as noted above, or earlier by special arrangement. For directions and a map, please click here.
Works may be shipped via UPS or FedEx, and must be sent with return postage and return mailing labels. Insurance of works in transit is the sole responsibility of the artist, and the KIA will not accept any works damaged in transit.
Condition of Entries: All works to be wall-hung must be fully prepared for hanging with proper hanging devices (“D”-rings and/or wires). Please note the “top” where necessary. No clip frames are permitted. The KIA reserves the right to refuse any entry and to withdraw any work from the exhibition at its discretion.
Special Installation Needs: Pieces or works requiring special setups must be pre-arranged: call the KIA preparator at 269.349.7775, ext. 3134.
Caveats: The KIA reserves the right to refuse any work that is inappropriate, framed inadequately, or misrepresented by entry image. Work must be available the entire duration of the exhibition and may not be delivered late or released early.
Liability: All work is submitted at the owner’s risk. Although every precaution will be taken, the KIA is not responsible for insurance of work during transit or while on its premises. By submitting work, the artist waives any claim against the KIA for any loss or damage.
Sale of Works: Works will not be offered for sale through the KIA. Visitors interested in purchasing work will be put in contact with the artist.
