Martha Croasdale grew up on Gull Lake in southwestern Michigan. She first became interested in working with glass because of its fluidity and transparent qualities, like that of her beloved lake. Water, in all its natural forms, has been a recurring theme in her inspirations and art work. She graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 1983 with an emphasis in glass art.
