Kandy Grady

Hello, my name is Kandy Grady. I am a resident of Kalamazoo, Mi.

I’m a painter who likes to experiment in mixed media.  Acrylic is my medium of choice when I paint, but I also work in mixed media with paper I print using a Gel Plate format. My work varies from figurative portraits to colorful mixed media landscapes of Michigan. My painting palette is bold and expressive with the intent to provoke emotion with color more often than the paintings subject.

My artwork is expressive of who I am as a BPOC who is a daughter, sister, and mother. My experience of navigating humanity and my social environment has made me conscious of my desire to depict my African American culture in positive ways and vivid colors.
