Bernie Walasavage (b. 1989, Pottsville, Pennsylvania) is a Kalamazoo-based composer & artist.  He studied at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania (B.M., 2012) and Western Michigan University (M.M., 2015).  Bernie’s music has been performed around the USA and EU since 2014, having worked with artists and ensembles such as: The Russell Brown Quintet (Michigan), cellist Jordan Hamilton (Michigan), saxophonists Megan Gullone and Joe Murphy (Pennsylvania), Duo Artina (Croatia), Quartetto Indaco (Italy), Quartet Metadata (NYC), The Aero Brass (Cleveland, OH) and the Boston New Music Initiative.  He is a senior member of the Young Composers’ Community, an international collective of artists based in Munich, Germany est. in 2020.  Walasavage is twice published by PARMA Recordings’ Anthology of New Music (2021) and Trübcher Music Editions (2021/22) based in Berlin.  This year, he will be based primarily in Philadelphia, PA.  In his spare time, he also paints brutalist landscapes for pleasure, usually sticking with acrylics and any surface, with-or-without intent.
