Kalamazoo College - Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership

The Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership (ACSJL) is an initiative of Kalamazoo College whose mission is to support the pursuit of human rights and social justice by developing emerging leaders and sustaining existing leaders in the field of human rights and social justice, creating a pivotal role for liberal arts education in engendering a more just world. The ACSJL provides programs and activities that teach and promote social change practices that will enable you to imagine a socially just world, and be a part of creating it. Supporting Kalamazoo College’s mission to prepare graduates who provide enlightened leadership, and responding to the need for development of engaged citizens who have the abilities to envision and create a socially just world, the ACSJL will develop new leaders and sustain existing leaders in the field of human rights and social justice.

The ACSJL recognizes an intrinsic connection between social justice leadership and the liberal arts, and it seeks to develop and support this emerging field of study and practice. We envision a campus community marked by equity, opportunity, respectful honesty, and dialogue.
