James W. Miller Auditorium, a multi-purpose public assembly facility, was built in 1968 and has a seating capacity of 3,497. Located on the campus of Western Michigan University, Miller Auditorium is the cultural hub of the region and is recognized nationally as one of the leading university-based performing arts centers. The Auditorium provides a variety of musical, theatrical, and cultural programs that attract to the Western Michigan University campus thousands of people from southwest Michigan. It also provides a site and assists in the management of programs presented under University auspices, such as concerts and student entertainment programs. The facilities and services of the Auditorium are rented to outside institutions and organizations for performances, assemblies, and conferences. Miller Auditorium is the home for Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra and the Kalamazoo Concert Band.
