Chili Cook-Off

Chili Cook-Off

at Kalamazoo Valley Museum

The Kalamazoo Valley Museum joins Downtown Kalamazoo’s Chili Cook-off January 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come taste and vote for a vegan sweet potato chili from the chefs at Firekeeper’s Casino. Vegan Kalamazoo and the Food Bank of South Central Michigan will be here as well. Pick up your Bingo Card at the Museum, then stop by all the local participating restaurants and stores while sampling chili.

We are thankful to the Food Bank and Firekeeper’s for providing a vegan alternative. The Food Bank is devoted to feeding hungry people by collecting and distributing food and grocery products, advocating for hunger-relief programs, and collaborating with others who address basic human needs. Come learn more about how you can serve the hungry in our community.

Vegan Kalamazoo provides a supportive social and learning environment for those within the greater Kalamazoo area who are following, or interested in learning more about, veganism and/or plant-based diets. “We’re so excited to participate!” says Hillary Retting, organizer of Vegan Kalamazoo. “Vegan chili gives you all the flavor and nutrition, with less fat and few calories, and it’s also kinder to the animals and planet.”

Don’t miss the “land” section of the new Innovation Gallery to learn about current technology and innovative farming techniques.
