The Art of Digital Discovery

The Art of Digital Discovery

Presented by Kalamazoo Art League at Kalamazoo Institute of Arts

Visual Artist Daryl Thetford will discuss his discovery that the psychology of behavior and emotion -- evertything he'd been studying and practicing for years -- flowed neatly into his artistic process.  Lecture begins at 10 am.  Refreshments served following the talk.

Thetford’s color-drenched digital photo collages are each composed of bits of up to 100 photographs.  "I'm always gathering material, I'm always gathering color," Thetford says.  Before devoting himself to creating art, Thetford’s career was in the field of mental health; but after 15 years he left that work to return to his first love, art. Thetford's studio is in Chattanooga TN.  His work has been exibited in museums and corporate collections from Los Angles to Grand Rapids MI.
