ARTbreak: Dancing for My Tribe: Potowatomi Tradition in Modern Times

Presented by Kalamazoo Institute of Arts at Kalamazoo Institute of Arts

A Tribal Member of Citizen Potawatomi Nation, photographer Sharon Hoogstraten describes her five-year photographic portrait project of Potawatomi Indians in regalia as the story of wholly modern people preserving the traditional dress of their ancestors whilst also making it relevant to contemporary living and their own personal stories. ARTbreak is a weekly program about art, artists and exhibitions. Donations welcome. Bring your brown bag lunch, coffee provided.
