Rising Stars Series: Drew Petersen (USA)

Born in Oradell, New Jersey in 1993, DREW PETERSEN began his career as a pianist at an early age. He was presented at Carnegie Hall at age 5, and at 10 he performed a solo recital for Steinway’s 150th Anniversary. He is the winner of the 2017 American Pianists Award and the Christel DeHaan Fellowship of the American Pianists Association. Petersen graduated cum laude from Harvard at 19 with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Social Science and completed both his undergraduate and graduate music studies at The Juilliard School, where he was recently accepted into the prestigious Artist Diploma program. He regularly performs internationally at some of the world’s most esteemed festivals and venues, and his unique gifts have been profiled in The New York Times, New York Magazine, in the documentary Just Normal, and in Andrew Solomon’s book, Far From the Tree. Program will include Bach's Toccata in F# Minor, BWV 910 and Chopin's Three Waltzes, Op. 34. Sponsored by a Friend of The Gilmore.
